The concept of the road trip is etched in large American popular mythology. It evokes thoughts of romantic road that stretches in epic landscapes, Route 66, Kerouac, widths occupied desert cactus, Easy Rider … I will not go further – you’ve seen enough movies and read enough books. There is always the case that the best way to see America, the only real way appropriate, America is seen in the street.
The only problem with taking on such a trip, where they go – there are so many interesting ways through a varied landscape, which would in fact you end up losing the question of whether you missed some amazing views, or experience. The best or at least the most exciting policy could not simply plan – embracing the spirit of the road and see where it takes you. The following, though of course just scratching the surface, is a guide, a couple of tracks that we believe merit in the development of the American Road Trip Itinerary.
The Appalachian Trail
Extends from the wild mountain scenery of New Hampshire, skirting past the edge of the City of New York and Washington, through the spectacular, history-rich Shenandoah National Park and Blue Ridge Parkway down to Georgia and in the heart of the South, is on the Appalachian Trail a variety unbeatable visit often breathtaking through the heart of the eastern United States.
Route 66
The road trip ultimate U.S. Route 66 is really a journey through American history. Of course, there could be a measure in which the modern Route 66 experience as much hype and build a commercial motivation to become mythologizing, but hey, what is more American! “
Known as the “Mother Road” by John Steinbeck, dig a furrow diagonally from the legendary road of 2,000 miles of America, Chicago, Los Angeles, taking in plenty of landscapes on the trail. Vintage motels, diners, gas stations and meet all familiar to a romantic vision of America to everyone.
The original Route 66 was effectively closed in 1985, which are replaced by high speed highways, the old road has since been renamed “Historic Route 66″. Despite the fact that it is not possible, the full itinerary for training a lot and it survives, is in fact very well preserved in places. There are few better opportunities, with an almost mythic sense of American national identity by interacting as a series of “The Main Street of America”.
The Pacific Coast Highway
There is no better way to discover the beauty of the Pacific coast while driving along the coastal road, Highway 1. Start the archetype of the Southern California sand pristine beaches in Santa Barbara and wind your way up to the harsh, bracing coast of the Pacific Northwest. Such is the nature of the coastal road that seems familiar announcements countless cars – precarious, winding roads on the sides Cliff that the vast Pacific carved overlooked.
When you throw in your own version of the American road trip great, it is really wise to start on the east coast, as everyone wants in the Big Apple to take charge of planning.
